Session 1: The Physical Battle – Faithfulness in the Fight (Exodus 17:8-13)

1. When Israel sinned by complaining against God, He sent venomous serpents as a consequence. Yet He also provided a means of salvation—a bronze serpent lifted on a pole. Those who looked in faith to this symbol were healed and lived. This powerful image teaches us that salvation is by faith in God’s provision alone; we cannot cure ourselves or earn life by our efforts.
2. The bronze serpent points forward to Jesus Christ lifted high on the cross.
