Session 1: Jesus Leads the Way Amid Faith and Fear (Mark 10:32-34)

Bartimaeus stands as a powerful example of true discipleship. Unlike the disciples arguing about status, Bartimaeus approaches Jesus with humility and faith, recognizing his need and crying out for mercy. Though blind and marginalized, he acknowledges Jesus as “Son of David,” identifying Him as the Messiah, even when many in the crowd reject or silence him. This illustrates that faith often comes from unexpected places and that God’s kingdom includes the humble and needy.
Jesus’ response to Bartimaeus is striking: He stops in the midst of His journey to the cross to attend to a desperate sinner’s cry. It encourages believers that no cry of faith is too small or insignificant for Jesus’ attention.
