Session 1: The Church in the Wilderness (Revelation 12:13-16)

Opening Scripture: “So when the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle so that she could fly from the serpent into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time.” (Revelation 12:13-14, ESV)

💭 Teaching Summary:

The passage shows the intense spiritual conflict between Satan and God’s faithful people, symbolized by the dragon pursuing the woman. Yet God provides divine protection, symbolized by the woman receiving the wings of the great eagle to escape into the wilderness. This wilderness is a place prepared by God for the faithful to be nourished amid persecution.

The Waldenses were a faithful remnant church who retreated into the Alpine wilderness to preserve the gospel amid overwhelming pagan and papal opposition. Session 3: The Piedmont Massacre and Its Lessons (1655)

In 1655, the Waldenses faced one of their darkest hours when the Duke of Savoy, under papal pressure, issued a cruel ultimatum: convert to Catholicism or leave their homes in three days. Many perished braving the harsh Alps, with only a few thousand surviving.
