[Music]oh[Music]hello and welcome to the third of athree-part series on DeliveranceMinistry my name is Pastor Conrad Vineand I'm delighted to be sharing thisseries with you as we wrestle with whatthe Bible teaches us the word of Godreveals about the struggle betweenChrist and Satan and how that is playedout in our lives it is my privilege toserve as the president president ofAdventist Frontier missions uh we'rebased in Baran Springs Michigan and wesend missionaries around the world toestablish Adventist Church plantingmovements among unreached people groupsand it's my privilege every single dayto get to see the Holy Spirit working inincredible and Powerful ways and part ofthe ministry that we engage in isDeliverance Ministry because we're oftenpushing into areas that have been underthe authority of Satan for centuries andso what I'm going to be sharing with youtoday comes from lessons that we havelearned as missionaries not just myselfbut our Frontline missionaries relatingto the the reality of spiritual warfareand what we can do about it in our firstuh topic together in our first of ourthree-part series We examined thebiblical basis for Deliverance Ministryin the context of the great controversythe struggle between good and evil thebattle between Jesus Christ and Satan inthe second of our three-part series weexplored the biblical basis forDeliverance Ministry beginning with somebasic terminology and then describingwhat demons are we then looked at umDeliverance Ministry realities in theOld Testaments in the ministry of Jesusand in the time of the Apostolic Churchbefore drawing some conclusions and sotoday in the third and final of ourthree-part series on DeliveranceMinistry we're going to be looking atsome practical aspects of DeliveranceMinistry from an Adventist perspectivenow you can find all the all thematerials that I'm talking from heretoday if you go to the website that wein AFM established precisely for thiskind of ministry it iswww. setfree in Christ that is one wordsetfree in christ.org that will give youuh for free a very detailed manual andAdventist framework on DeliveranceMinistry I'd encourage you to downloadit and prayerfully consider it and um uhthat will give you a lot of insights alot lot more detail that I'm notcovering here with you in this veryshort three-part series what I'm sharingwith you today are some of the combinedlessons that I and many of my colleaguesin Ministry have have put togetherprayerfully as we put together thatmanual I'm sharing this series with youtoday because uh there is an growing uhproblem of demonization particularly inthe west secular man is is falling uhevery day into the traps set by theoccult and by Satan and young people areare playing with Ouija boards tarotcards horoscopes they're visitingmediums and seances uh there is Satanicritual abuse Sr at some of the levels insociety uh there is childhood sexualabuse that's often associated with theult as we have a more and moreincreasingly Multicultural Society inthe west so people are coming in fromdifferent cultures with differentencounters with with the occult anddifferent spiritual practices and thenet result of all of this is that ouryounger children and our Millennials andour teenagers are now swimming in in ina world that is surrounded by occulticimagery and themes and IDEand it's very important that we asadults and as parents and as um eldersand teachers in the body of Christ OurEyes Are Open to the realities of whatis happening around us so we can respondwhen people ask for help and I want toemphasize again that Jesus never turnedpeople away when they asked for help hedidn't criticize them he didn't condemnthem he he affirmed the faith theyshowed when they turned to him for helpso if anybody ever comes to you and asksfor help do not criticize do not condemnbut emphasize the fact that we we servea sin forgiving savior who will forgivethe sins of every penitent sinner whoturns away from their path of sin and soI want to uh start out today we startwith a prayer and invite the presence ofthe Holy Spirit but just with anemphasis on the fact that we serve aloving savior who died for the sins ofthis world Who Bore all of our sins andwho defeated Satan in the in theshowdown in the wilderness and whodefeated him at at Calvary and whodefeated him on that Resurrectionmorning and he invit us to beambassadors for him to Faithfullyrepresent his Redemptive Ministry uh inthe midst of a Fallen World so before webegin invite you to Bow your heads withme and we'll ask for the presence of theHoly Spirit oh Father God I want tothank you that you've called us intoMinistry father I thank you that thoughwe are Jars of Clay that we carry um thebreakages of life that we've beenbattered and bruised we've been brokenin Parts each one of us carries scarsand pains from the past I thank youFather that you entrust the Wonder andbeauty of the Everlasting gospel to usthat we may be your ambassadorsMinisters of the Gospel to the ends ofthe Earth and father I pray that as weserve you that we'll do so with joy inour hearts not because we are told to bejoyful but because we have tasted andseen that you are good we do not justknow about your grace we do not justread about your grace we do not justhear sermons about your grace but wehave tasted Your Grace we haveexperienced Your Grace we've beenbaptized in your graceand as we were baptized in your graceevery part of our being was was affectedby that Grace itself and so father as weserve you in the 21st century I praythat we will bring the same Redemptivespirits to all of our ministry as Jesusbrought when he was on planet Earth sofather I pray you'll speak through meand for me now I pray you'll bless thosewho are listening to this I pray thatwhere necessary you will set them freefrom the attacks of Satan father thevery fact that they're watching thisseries means that they are turning toyou in one way or another and I'm askingthat you reward their faith and set themfree from Satan's attacks so fatherplease speak through me and for me andwith me lift me and protect Those whom Ilove and serve in the name of Jesus Iask amen all right so we're going to betalking today about um uh some keyingredients there are 12 of them so youcan be counting down as we go throughthis talk some key ingredients relatingto Deliverance Ministry and this is froman Adventist perspective you see it'simportant to realize that um whereasthat the Catholic approach toDeliverance Ministry they call itexorcism is a very much a a veryritualized lurgical approach it's veryhighly structured the Evangelicalapproach as already mentioned is is muchmore aggressive it's going out lookinguh claiming a name a city a town for thelordship of the of Jesus Christ but froman Adventist perspective we have a muchmore defensive posture which is we don'tgo looking for trouble but if TroubleComes looking for us we don't run fromtrouble we have the shield of faith wehave the the helmet of salvation thebreastplate of righteousness the belt ofTruth we are shod with the feetrepresenting the willingness to sharethe gospel and we carry in our hands thespoken word of God the rat to Theo uhthe the the spoken word of God and so umas we look at it from an Adventistperspective we realize that from thescriptures and from the experience ofDeliverance Ministry there are at least12 there's 10 and two um ingredients umfor Deliverance Ministry andwe in AFM refer to these as beingingredients um because there is noritual that you follow uh you know ifyou make um a loaf of bread you know ummost Sundays I'll make maybe four loaveswith my wife and uh I I'm the unskilledlabor and she's the skilled brain in theprocess all right and so my job is toknead the dough and so my wife puts theflour in and she puts the yeast in sheputs a bit of sugar in Sometimes somemolasses and she puts a bit of salt andshe puts some warm water and sometimesshe puts in some carow seeds or somesesame seeds Sometimes some raisins ordates and so every time that she makesthe loaf of bread the mixture isslightly different and when the loafcomes out of the oven it tastes slightlydifferent and it depends on what my wifeis wanting to accomplish with thatparticular loaf of bread and so theingredients they may slightly change butyou still get a loaf of bread at the endof the day and in Deliverance Ministrywhat we find in Adventist Frontiermissions AFM is that there are manyingredients and you have to learn withwith a gift of discernment how to bringthose ingredients to bear on anindividual case because no case is thesame as any other case every case isdifferent whether you're dealing with uman attorney in New York who'scomplaining of demonization or you'redealing with a Seminary Student oryou're dealing with an illiterate girlin some part of of another world ofanother country the cases are alldifferent and therefore we haveingredients at our disposal um and everycase is dealt with in a slightlydifferent way and so the first of those12 ingredients is what we call in AFM aDivine equipping see the word of Godsays that uh the holy spirit givesdifferent gifts to different members andthe reason those gifts are given inEphesians 4:2 is and I quote for theperfecting of the Saints for the work ofthe ministry for the edifying of thebody of Christ and so the gifts that Godgives are not for me to edify myselfthey're not for me to make money out ofthey're not for me to make to beglorified or honored or become acelebrity within the community of Faiththe gifts that God gives me and thegifts that God gives you are givenprecisely so that we can bless the bodyof Christ so that others might havetheir burdens lifted that others mightfind Hope and joy and peace in theirlives as well and just as I'm vulnerableand open myself to people ministering tome so it is my privilege as a part ofthe body of Christ to minister to othersthat my gifts might be a blessing forthem and within Deliverance Ministry wefind that um God has given some peoplethe gift of the discernment of spiritsnow um we're going to talk about that inin a few more details in a few minutesbut um those who have a sense of divinecalling to this ministry um you soonrealize who they are within your churchyou know within every in everycongregation that you have a few peoplewho are always at prayer meeting uh ifthey speak at a board meeting or abusiness meeting they speak rarely butwhen when they speak everybody listensand you realize that this person has aChristian maturity they have a love forthe Saints they do not engage inbackbiting or gossip and uh if you wantto really know you know what what how weshould what kind of decision we shouldmake um speaking with that person willgive you a really Godly and god-honoringpath of action ahead of you and so whenwe talk about Deliverance Ministry uhwhat we're looking for in people whoengage in Deliverance Ministry is asense of calling that is they senseGod's calling to this kind of ministryand uh this is very important becausethere are many people who will run fromthis kind of ministry and they do so outof fear and why are they afraid I'lltell you why they're afraid because inDeliveranceMinistry um if you encounter somebodywho has a demon and you're speaking withsomebody and the demon speaks back atyou often the demon will will speak outand they will call you out for yourprivate unconfessed cherished sins andso people they don't want to engage inDeliverance Ministry because if I cometo you and you're asking for help and Icome with a couple of deaconesses and acouple of deacons and we're praying overyou we're doing an anointing and we'recommanding the demon to come out thedemons say well well hang on a minutehang on you have no authority to do thisyou have an you have a cherished sin inyour life and God does not hear theprayers of those who have cherished sinsin their lives Isaiah 59 veres 1-2 youknow behold the arm of the Lord is notso short that he cannot save behold theear of the Lord is not so dull that hecannot tear but it is your sins havehidden you from God so he does not hearyour prayers and so that's the gist ofthe passage here Isaiah 59: 1 and 2 sothose who have a sense of calling to umDeliverance Ministry they have it's theyhave a solemn sense of responsibilitythat um just as a preacher if a preacheris to preach with credibility on Sabbaththen from Sunday Monday TuesdayWednesday Thursday Friday they are tolive a Godly life a credible life sothat when they preach on Sabbath themessage has credibility and likewisewith Deliverance Ministry if you aregoing to be invited to set somebody freeon a Sabbath evening after Sabbath in achurch building somewhere then fromSunday through Sabbath morning you needto be living a life of Integrity a lifeof Holiness a life that is putting asideof obvious and known sins because youknow that In the Heat of battle thedemons who fight dirty they'll call youout if there is an unconfessed orcherished or private sin and they'reseeking to shame you from thebattlefield field so the firstingredient you're looking for is peoplewho have a sense of of the reality ofdemons who have a sense of the need forpersonal Holiness they will often feelthe need they'll come into a buildingthey say we need to pray and you're notquite sure why they want to pray butthey may explain later I to give you anexample I was uh in turkey with acolleague a few years ago and she walkedahead of me down a long tunnel it wasthe Temple of asclepios um I think itwas in in pergamum one of the sevenchurches revelationand uh we were we were walking down intothe Temple of escos and you can still gothere to this day and there was a longCorridor down that tunnel and mycolleague was about 50 yards ahead of meand she was walking down and halfwaydown that Corridor there was a young mansitting in a Lotus position and he waschanting some um Buddhistmantras and uh as my colleague waswalking down she didn't say anything tome but she waited from the end of thetunnel and I followed her through thetunnel and as I was walking through Ijust had this urgent sense Conrad youneed to pray Conrad you need to pray andas I prayed my way through that tunnel Irealized that something was not rightwithin that tunnel there was a presencein that tunnel that I did not want I didnot like I could not explain and Ipassed by the young man doing hisBuddhist chanting beside me and as Iwent by him the noise kind of faded outlike somebody turned the volume off andwhen I came to the end of the tunnel thevolume came up again and as I came tothe end of the tunnel my colleague saidto me Conrad she said were you prayingthrough that tunnel I said yes and saidI was praying every step of the waythrough that tunnel there was somepresence within that tunnel that was notof God's kingdom and so that's the kindof Sixth Sense the sense of adiscernment there's a spirit here not ofGod's kingdom and people who engage inDeliverance Ministry often have thatsixth sense that gift of discernmentfrom God that something is here thatshould not be here the second uh giftthat God gives is the gift ofdiscernment the second ingredient is thegift of discernment of spirits we'vealready mentioned this in 1 Corinthians12 and verse 10 the discernment ofspirits means to spiritually see andunderstand where the holy spirit is atwork or where demons are at work and howthey are impacting someone's daily lifeand in the end time conflict beforeJesus returns God invites us to maintaina close Union with Christ and to have arich experience of the spiritual thingsof God as people pray for discernment wecan claim the promise of Luke 11:13where Jesus says our heavenly father isis more willing to give his holy spiritto them that ask him than our Earthlyparents to give good gifts to theirchildren now how do we differentiate andthis is a very common question betweenmental illness and demonization andmental health problems are oftencorrected when the right clinicaltreatment is administered combined withlifestyle changes for instance eatingbetter getting regular sleep improvingyour frontal lobe activity and so forthand we don't have time for an extendeddiscussion about this and it is truethat many people have simply um afunctional breakdown in the brainsomething's not firing right there's achemical imbalance and they are notexperiencing demonization they may havesimply have a physical cause it may wellbe that they have blown their mind withdrugs and alcohol now they they're theirfunctional or cognitive abilities areseriously degraded and it manifestsitself as as uh as relational impairmentas cognitive impairment and andintellectual dysfunction there are manyphysical reasons not of Satan that mayexplain why somebody has um a problemwith their mind and how they function umbut someone who is gifted in in in inDeliverance Ministry will be able todiscern over time when something ispurely physical or where something has aspiritual component you notice in in thegospels Jesus treats a boy who hasepilepsy but Jesus doesn't cure him ofepilepsy he casts out the demon and soas Dr Luke says this boy has epilepsyJesus says no this boy is demonized andthe Cure is not a neurological fix inthe brain The Cure is to cast out thedemon from that boy's life and so it issometimes hard to differentiate betweenwhether something is mental illness orwhether something is demonization andfor that reason we often use aquestionnaire we're trying to like Likea Surgeon to probe to figure out what isthe cause of what is going on here we'regoing to say more about questionnairesin a few moments um there are also quickand dirty tests you may perform you mayfor instance open the Bible and asksomebody to read Matthew chapter 16where Jesus says who do men say that Iam and uh and and Peter says well somesay John the Baptist others Elijah stillothers Jeremiah one of the prophets andJesus said to them but who do you saythat I am and Simon Peter answered youare the Messiah the Son of the LivingGod now there's often times the casewhere someone who is under demoniccontrol if you say to them read Matthew16 from verse 5 onwards they can read itvery well verse 5 vers 6 vers 7:8 butwhen they come to the confession thatJesus is the Messiah the Son of theLiving God it's like their tongue juststops working they can't go any furtherthan that and you realize at that momentthat what they have is not a physicalproblem what they have is not acognitive disorder what they have is notas is not a developmental disabilitywhat they have is a spiritual issue thattheir mind is under the control of Satanand so the need for discernment is veryimportant uh when we're when we'reworking with people becauseif somebody brings a child to you orthey come themselves and say I have aproblem and I'm not sure what it is ifyou say to somebody if if your firstconclusion is oh you're experiencingdemonization often times people theirfirst reaction is they give up hopebecause how can I fight against a demonhow can I possibly outwit or outow oroverwhelm a demon I can't I'm basicallyhel us I'm like a lamb trapped in alion's mouth and so if you say tosomeone prematurely oh this is a case ofof demonization the unwittingconsequence may be that they give upthey give up hope and they give up thefight and so before you come to theconclusion that this is a case ofdemonization you need to figure out whatare the other potential causes are theysuffering from depression have theyexperienced childhood abuse have theyhad the death of a spouse has theirbusiness just been closed have they losttheir home that's causing them atransient form of depression a naturalemotional response to a a tough setbackin life and so before you come to theconclusion there is demonization youneed to systematically work through allthe other options to exclude thosebefore you come to demonization as yourlast option now that is in many casesthere are also cases where somebodycomes and they know exactly that theyhave demonization they may come to youand you say Pastor I'm demonized and yousay well how do you know that well Imade a PCT with Satan when I was 16 oryou may say Pastor I'm demonized and yousay how' do you know about that and yousay well I have a familiar Spirit andthe familiar Spirit has been appearingto me since your age of five in mybedroom at night and sometimes he triesto sexually assault me this familiarSpirit or he tries to strangle me I'mterrified of going to bed at night thosecases come with with great um regularityin my life and Ministry and so sometimesthe demonization is obvious andsometimes you have to figure out ittakes prayer and time not just oneinterview but multiple interviews beforeyou come to the conclusion so the firstingredient is a sense of calling toDeliverance Ministry the secondingredientis the need for discernment the thirdingredient is that you need the consentfrom the demonized person or a requestfrom a relative you see it is difficultif not a waste of time to pray for theDeliverance of a demonized person whodoes not want to be set free for onereason or another it is critical and wefind this in the gospels you need theconsent of someone before they can beset free Jesus did not just go aroundcasting demons from children every timeJesus casts a demon out of a child it iseither the mother or the father thatcomes to Jesus the syrop phenician womanor the man of little faith in Matthew'sgospel it is a parent who comes to Jesusthey are the legal guardians of thatchild they are morally responsible forthat child and they say Jesus pleasehelp my child and so Jesus always workedwith the consent of the demonized andeven in the case of the garine demoniacin Mark 5 where he sees Jesus step outof the boat and he runs down from fromthe from the graves down to Jesus and hecomes to Jesus and he falls at the feetof Jesus and when he opens his mouth itis the demons that speak you may ask thequestion did Jesus have the consent ofthat person to cast out the demons Iwould say absolutely because the mancould not control his speech the demonscontrol the speech but it is the factthat when the man saw Jesus he ran downto the shore and he fell at the feet ofJesus his physical actions were enoughto tell Jesus that I need help and I'masking you for help today and so it'svery important in Deliverance Ministrythat we have the consent of the personwho wants help the scriptures say thatif somebody is sick let him call for theElders of the church in James chapter 5and verse 14 and so uh that the personwho calls for help is implicitly givingtheir consent as I've said before whenit comes to children we want or minorswe need the consent of their caregiverof their lawful parent or caregiverbefore Deliverance Ministry can takeplace how however victims still want tobe set free because the demons might beresponsible for their indecision as towhether they really want to be free ornot and so in those cases you're notjust looking as in the case of thedemoniac you don't just need a verbal Ineed help but you're looking for othersigns sometimes somebody will come up toyou and they'll just sit in front of youand they may kind of tug on your cloakor your jacket and they can't sayanything they're literally dumb thatthey cannot control their speech and inthose situations you realize thatthey're asking for help with nonverbalsignals because they don't control theirown tongue so the third ingredient is weneed the consent of the demonized thefourth ingredient is the preparation ofthe demonized person and of the teamthrough prayer and fasting we saw in thefirst section of this three-part seriesthat Jesus says in Matthew 17:21 thatthis kind that is of demon does not goout except by prayer and fasting and sothe Deliverance team and if possible theperson asking for help needs to fas per their convic convictions andtheir abilities and the demonized personis encouraged to read Bible passages forinstance the gospel of Mark is a greatplace to start and to pray before andafter every reading of the scriptures weoften use in Deliverance Ministry aquestionnaire and in the the the for theum the manual you can download one ofthe appendices at the back it includes adetailed questionnaire and that is oftenused so that we can understand thespiritual history of the demonized nowthat questionnaire asks all kinds ofvery personal questions have you had anabortion have you engaged in premaritalsex um have you enged involved in sameseex activ samesex sexual activity orsame G samesex gentle gentle same samexsexual activity uh have you um engagedhad your horoscope drawn up um have youwished somebody dead have you read thewritings of Edgar Casey a very famousNew Age author um have you ever watchedhorror movies have you ever listened tomusic that talks about death and satanicuh imagery and themes and so forth it'sa very very detailed questionnaire andwe we do this in Deliverance Ministrybecause um often times somebody hasopened into their life multiple doorwaysfor Satan to enter and we want tounderstand what those doorways are wherehave those sins entered this person'slife and if we want to close those doorsto Satan G gaining access to the personwe need to know what those doors are andthe reality of doing a a questionnaireis that sometimes somebody will confessto something such as I watchpornography and you you um they they seethat you're not shocked because you'redealing in love with them you're dealingredemptively then they say I'm actuallywatching gay porn and again you're notshocked by this because you find this anawful lot tragically speaking and whenthey see that you're not shocked thenthey after a few more minutes they maysay I watched porn involving bestialityand they see that you're not shockedthen they say well when I was a teenagerI was engaged in incestuous relationshipship with my younger sister which isalso child abuse and then they seeyou're not shocked by that and then itcomes out to when I was six my unclevisited at Christmas and he abused me inmy bedroom when the family were playinggames downstairs and ever since thenI've been trying to connect with someoneto have a real relationship and youstart to see this individual not as asexual pervert but because they've beenso harmed as a small child by anunnatural relationship they're tryinghowever they can to find their lovingrelationship whether it's throughbestiality or incest orhomosexuality um they can't find it theycan't get any satisfaction uh if you areto quote Mick Jagger the famous RollingStone cigar in that area they can't getany satisfaction they're looking formeaning they're looking for love butthey can't find it and they are comingto you not as a wicked person but as aprofoundly broken person and as you gothrough a questionnaire with someone andthe these these stories they startopening up before you more and more andmore as they trust you and they revealto you the depth of degradation in theirlife that the helplessness and despairthat they feel um it is our privilege topoint point people to Jesus as theirsin-bearing and sin forgiving saviorwhen they confess their sins and repentand turn away from sin and turn to Jesusin faith so a questionnaire is animportant part of Team preparationperhaps the most important part of Teampreparation is for us to spend time inpersonally in confession of sin we donot want the demons to call out ourprivate sins in the in the DeliveranceMinistry Jesus God says in Isaiah 59:2says your iniquities have separated youfrom your God and your sins have hiddenhis face from you so that he will nothear very important Point here God doesnot answer our prayers often because wehave cherished sins in our lives andwe're not willing to give them up whywould god listen to our prayers if weare obstinately and willfully refusingthe promptings of the Holy Spirit togive up certain and all of the sins inourlives however it is not preparationconfession freedom from sin prayer forprotection or fasting or discernmentthat protects us from the spirit'staunts or intimidation or that gives ussuccess in the Deliverance Ministrysession rather it is simply God's graceand his desire for the Salvation of allof his lost children who happen to beunder Satan's control so the nextingredient is choosing the time and theplace and uh as a general rule um if youengage in delance Ministry choosesomewhere confidential don't if somebodycomes to you on a Sabbath morning andsays I have a problem don't say to themlet's just go into the vestory for a fewminutes here because you know thatthere's going to be people coming andgoing there's going to be curiouschildren sticking their head around thecorner and watching what is happeningthere's going to be gossip and Scandalthroughout the church and whatever elsewe do in Deliverance Ministry we want tomaintain the human dignity of the peoplewe're ministering to so if somebody asksfor help work with them and identify atime and a place where you can be alonewith them and the team that you'reworking with because you don't do thison your own you can be with your teamand with that person it is absolutelyconfidential nobody can hear anythingnobody can see anything nobody willsuspect anything you want to maintainthe Dignity of the person that youministering too and from experienceSabbath is the best day for DeliveranceMinistry and those who've come out ofthe occult will often say that duringthe hours of the Sabbath The Power ofwitches and mediums is at its lowestthere is something about the Sabbath daywhere the where the powers of Darknessare at their weakest during the 7-Daycycle so if possible if somebody says Ineed help you say well I'll see you nextSabbath or in the following Sabbath togive time for you and your team to havetime for prayer and fasting andconfession of sin and for the demonizedif at all possible for themselves to befasting and praying as well and maybethe best place to do it is in a buildingconsecrated to the worship of God I knowyou can't always choose where you engagein kind of ministry sometimes you're ata camp meeting and somebody says I havea problem and you say I'll meet you atthe back of the auditorium in an hour'stime with a couple of other pastors andwill minister to you there uh but if ifyou have any choice in the matter uh mystrong counsel is engaging DeliveranceMinistry in a building that'sconsecrated to the worship and theservice of God and uh you find therethat um again the powers of Satan attheir weakest within those places andJesus often cast out demons uh duringthe the Sabbath hours and he also castout demons within the synagogue uhplaces dedicated to the worship of of ofYahweh the next ingredient we recommendhere is the choice of scripture textsand songs and from personal experiencefrom the experience of AFM missionariesaround the world I just like to sharewith you today that certain Bible textshave a more powerful influence on demonsthan do others particularly those textsthat exalt the name and the power andthe authority of our Lord and SaviorJesus Christ or talk about his authorityor the authority he gave his disciplesover evil spirits in the n in thepowerful and mighty name of Jesushimself Genesis 3:15 just as list oftexts here Matthew 8:29 Matthew 101Matthew17:21 Mark 16:17 Luke1018-19 acts 1038 Romans 1620 Ephesians6:12 Colossians 2:15 Hebrews2:14-15 first 1 John 38 1 John 55Revelation 12 7-1 and Revelation 20 1-3this is an excellent selection of textsto carry and as I've already indicatedum you may want to carry these textswithin your Bible so that when themoments of truth comes and evil islooking you in the face and a demon isspeaking at you and you're lost forwords you go to the word of God and youspeak to that demon the word of Godthese are words of absolute truth notonly that but they are a reminder to thedemon that there is a God and that Godwill one day bring that demon intojudgment so the very Act of quoting theword of God at someone when when a demonis speaking to out of a person it's areminder to that demon that his or herEternal Destiny is eternal destructionand we're only talking about the detailsof how he gets there at this stage butthere is a God and he will bring thatdemon into judgment it's also worthwhileum having lists of Bible hymns with youhymns are a great way of conveyingprofound spiritual truths particularlyin moments of stress when I was workingin Afghanistan with Adra many years agoand Tajikistan I travel up and downroads particularly in Tajikistan andthere would be armed men on the streetson the roads trying to get food from thefood convoys we were running with Adraat the time and in those immenselystressful days when we would be shot atand people would shoot out the tires ofyour vehicle they put guns to your headwe want food and these are youngsquaddies with they're carrying littleplastic sachet of marijuana and herointhey're high during the day and theyhave no respect for human life life wascheap out there and how did I respond Iresponded by singing my cradle roll singsongs Jesus loves me this I know for theBible tells me so wide wide is the oceanetc etc is my father's love for me andso I would sing these songs that wouldlift me above the stress and into thecourts of Heaven above and likewise inDeliverance Ministry um the the theFallen Angels once knew what the praiseof God sounded like in heaven and whenwe sing hymns like Christ the Lord isrisen today all hail the power of jesus'name I've been washed in the blood andso forth when we sing these songs totalk about Christ's Authority about hissecond coming lift up the trumpet loudlet it ring Jesus is coming again whenwe sing these songs we actually drivethe demons back they do not like it andso having a choice of scripture textstexts and songs that you can sing withyou is a very important uh component ofDeliverance Ministry so if you go toDeliverance Ministry take some himelswith you so that you can break into songsong relieves your stress in times ofimmense stress and it reminds the demonsthat they are facing Eternal judgmentthe next spiritual ingredient is theDeliverance Prayer with SpiritualAuthority there are seven instances inthe scriptures where Jesus spoke todemons and he drove them out he saidwords like beg gone Satan or Matthew17:18 says he rebuked the demon Mark1:34 Jesus allowed not the demon humansto speak Mark um 5:8 says come out ofthe man you unclean Spirit or Mark 9:25I charge you come out of him and enterhim no more Luke 4:35 hold your peaceand come out of him uh Luke 8:29 it saysJesus commanded the unclean Spirit tocome out of the man and as a result ofChrist's Authority the spirits respondedand they came out so when we're prayingover somebody and and the demonmanifests itself and you will know whena demon manifests itself um I had acolleague uh a female missionary she wasuh studying with a thae lady and uh shewas studying with her and she invitedthe Tha lady to accept Jesus as her Lordand Savior and this uh delicate littleTha lady which had a very feminine voiceas she looked back at the missionary andher face contorted and this masculinevoice came out and the voice said youcan't have her She's mine and at thatmoment our missionary realized that thiswas an encounter with a demon the demonwas speaking through this young Tha ladyand the missionary recounted to me thatat that moment her education her degreesher training the fact that she was abaptized member of the church she justwent out the window the only thing thatmattered in that encounter with evil wasthe name of the Lord Jesus Christ thatwas the only thing that that demon hadany respect for and by the grace of Godthat woman was set free that very day sowhen we command a demon to come out wedon't we're not very polite about itlike like in England were very politeabout things yes um so at the end of aservice the preacher would say would thecongregation please rise he very politeand at the end of the final hymn thepastor would say would the congregationplease be seated it's very nice flowerypolite language but you do not speak toDemons like this uh if there is ademonic encounter you speak with theauthority that is given you as arepresentative of Jesus Christ I commandyou in the name of the Lord Jesus Christto come out and on the way out do thisperson no harm you speak with authorityyou do not ask that is not a politerequest it is not a negotiation you haveno doubt or hesitation or fear in yourvoice because the demons will pick up onthe doubt or the fear or the hesitationand they'll play with you so when youcommand a demon to leave you speak withauthority in the name of the Lord JesusChrist I command you to be silent andthat demon will be silent not because ofwho you are but because the demonrespects and indeed fears the Lord JesusChrist the next uh ingredient inDeliverance Ministry is a DeliverancePrayer you combine it with the laying onof hands and anointing now the laying onof hands and anointing is a very um it'sa very culturally Laden practice thereare different cultures in our worldtoday and different cultures havedifferent approaches to the laying on ofhands for instance if you go to Mongoliatoday um you will find and other studoanimistic cultures they will haveobjects of power there are trees ininner and outer Mongolia where peopletravel for days on public um tourcompanies and they will Circle that treeand put their hands on it because theybelieve they receive a spiritual powerfrom that tree these are objects ofpower you know we find in the Bible thatpeople want just to touch thehandkerchiefs of the Apostles as as theapostles were going by here's myhandkerchief here I keep it for forcleaning my glasses but the the peoplewith their kind of more should we sayprimitive worldview they just wanted totouch the handkerchiefs of the Apostlesas an object object of power the Ark ofthe Covenant was an object of power ifyou were to touch it like Isaiah thenyou were struck down then you werestruck dead and so there were objects ofpower within the Old Testament peoplerecognize these and they are objects ofpower today and so touching of objectsof power is a very symbolic meaning inthe world today many Muslims believeanything with Baraka that is Allah'sblessing blesses anyone that it touchesin the new in the Old Testament youcouldn't touch the ark a symbol of God'spresence in the New Testament sick anddemonized people would beg just to touchJesus or the woman she CLT up to Jesuswith issue of blood for 12 years and shesaid if I can but Touch the Hem of Hiscloak I will be made sick now I wouldn'twant to justify why touching the Hem ofJesus robe made her well again in actualfact Jesus said it is your faith hasmade you well rather than the touchingof the cloak but Jesus didn't criticizeher faulty theology he affirmed whatfaith there was in the Bible the layingon of hands is considered to to be agesture used in consecration to Holyoffice in commissioning in the healingof individuals in the bestow of ablessing or Divine gifts such as uhJacob uh just um in Genesis chapter 48with the death of Jacob touching his hisgrandchildren and his children his TWSons the laying on of hands is relatedto sacrifice in Leviticus 1 and isrelated in Acts chapter 8 and Actschapter 19 to the coming or the receipof the Holy Spirit it and so touching isa very significant thing in thescriptures and In some cultures todaypeople expect to be touched and In somecultures today people don't want to betouched at all and it's alwaysworthwhile saying to somebody do youmind if I touch you and if I'm going totouch you this is where I'm going totouch you and if you're going to touchsomebody make sure there are witnesseswith you so they can say that everythingwas kosher everything was appropriateand everything was above board and so ifyou are going to touch somebody signalto them if you are praying over somebodysay fatheras I now anoint this man's eyes and Iput the oil on his eyes you aresignaling to the person asking for helpthat you're about to anoint their eyeswith oil he's been watching pornographysin has entered through his eyes you arenow sealing his eyes with the oil as asymbol of the presence of the HolySpirit and so um we we touch people onlywith their consent We Touch people onlywhen they've agreed to where we're goingto touch them and how we touch them andwhen we touch them and where we touchthem is always with the presence ofwitnesses around us um anointing ademonized person by faith in the name ofJesus provides a powerful seal of theholy spirit that will break previousdemonic or satanic seals dedicating aperson through anointing to the creatorof the universe using the symbol of oilas a symbol of the holy spirit is apowerful symbol to Satan and his Fallendemons that you no longer have access tothe person through this part of theirbody the anointing with oil as a symbolof the anointing of the holy spirit isan act that Satan is and his demons areforced to acknowledge because itrepresents the cancelling of any priorkind of um dedication blood wordscontract or generational sins orgenerational spirits that gives Satanpermission to have authority over thedemonized person and anointing alsosignifies that from that point forwardthat person is dedicated to God isconsecrated for Godly service and isunder the protection of the Holy Spiritand the angels of Godand so anointing and the laying on ofhands are are an important constituentingredient within Deliverance Ministrybut again it varies from culture toculture um just as non came to Elishaand he was upset when Elisha had gobathe seven times in the Jordan and hewas upset because he expected Elijah toask him to do some incredible deed andhe wasn't going to wash seven times inthe Jordan so non brought his culturalexpectations but God still healed himthrough the intervention of his moreGod-fearing um servants his Syrianservants and so God works with us andwith people within their culturalframework of reference with how theyexpect God to manifest himself and Godto work what matters is their trust thatJesus can set them free and they'returning to Jesus and they want to bepart of his kingdom rather than underthe influence of Satan and hisprincipality of evil the next componentis healingprayer because physical and he andmental healing after the departure ofdemons um who caused people to be deafor dumb or blind is not guaranteed inthe scriptures even after a person isset free from the underlyingdemonization and while authoritativecommands for deliverance are addressedagainst Satan and his demons or FallenSpirits prayer for healing is directedto our Heavenly Father and we cannotforce or command gods do anything but wesimply plead with God for healing forthe demonized person now demons maycause harm on their way out to the bodywe see this in Luke 4 and verse 35 wherea child is left as if dead by the demonwhen it leaves and demons may cause thatlast damage it's like on the way outthey're going to give you one final stablike okay you're asking me to leave butI'm going to give you something toremember me by and so we ask God thatwhen we when we cast out that demonwe're asking God to heal that person aswell the damage that the demon has donewhether it be blindness or dumbness ordeafness or whatever the case may bewe're asking God to provide full healingfor that person whether it be physicalemotional spiritual or social all themost important dimensions of life we'reasking God to heal that person in allpossible ways sister white in the spiritof Prophecy says um that Jesus healedthe sick and cast out demons and uh thisthis parallelism indicates that healingand deliverance go side by side just asthe Greek word Soo means to save or toheal when Jesus says to Blind bartmusyour faith has healed you you can alsointerpret that verse legit legitimatelyas your faith has saved you when Jesusspoke to the woman with the issue ofblood who comes and touches the Hem ofHis Garment in Mark chapter 6 on his wayto Gus's daughter Jesus turns to thiswoman of faith and he says go in peacedaughter your faith has healed you butyou may also interpret that verse asyour faith has saved you and so physicalhealing and spiritual salvation areinterchangeable within the New Testamentand I thank God for that that God knowsthat we don't just need physical healingbut he knows that we need spiritualhealing as well and so the Salvationthat God offers in the deliverance fromthe attacks of Satan occurs at aphysical level a spiritual level anemotional level and often times at asocial level because when people have aproblem with Deliverance MinistrySociety pulls back they don't know whatto do with them and they often lock theminto secure mental health units there'sa problem with this person let us sedatethem and just forget about them untilthey die and that's often a response wetake in the west tragically speaking andso when Jesus offers healing it isphysical social spiritual andpsychological and emotional to our lastcomponent as we come to a close here isthat in post Deliverance Ministry thereis always the risk and we've read thispassage repeatedly in the gospels inMark Matthew in particular that TheExpelled demon May return to the formerdemonized person that is their formerhabitation and find it empty that is theHoly Spirit and they invite in moreSpirits causing that person's conditionto be worse than it was before Matthew12: 45 and this scriptural Warning byJesus we need to be very careful withthis because um we can we can work inthe name of Jesus and bring someonedeliverance from the attacks of Satanbut we need to think about what happensafter that now there are times whenyou're just passing through you're at acamp meeting or you're speaking at achurch somewhere and you'll never meetthat person againin which case you need to be thinking aspart of one of the ingredients ofDeliverance Ministry you need to beasking yourself who can I put in contactwith this person that they trust whoknows this person's life story who knowsthese details who does not condemn thembut loves them and deals with themredemptively who will walk with themthrough the next months and years oflife who will encourage them who willhold them accountable if they're temptedto return to drugs or alcohol or porn orwhatever their favored particular sinmay happen to be who will hold them aaccountable and to will continue prayingfor this person's continued freeing fromthe attacks of Satan if this person isin your congregation or in your familyyou can be that accountability partnerbut often times you don't have theability to do it and so an importantpart of Deliverance Ministry is puttingthat person who's been set free um incontact with a network of a scaffoldingof support of people who love them andwill rally around them and help them asthey live the new life in the spirit wehelp P these people to get rid ofanything associated with the occult um Ioften walk through people's homes and Igo to their every bedroom and every roomand I look in all the drawers and thissounds remarkably intrusive but I tellyou this I you will never cease to besurprised what you find in the homes ofBible believing Christians stuff to dealwith the occult is in is in almost everycorner of their houses and they don'trealize it they may have um a brownwooden face from Haiti that has beendevoted to a demon they may have been onin Thailand and haliday or Anor what thetemples of Cambodia and they've comeback with some Buddhist statues they mayhave um they may have an amulet passedon through generations when you exploreit with them it came from their greatgrandmother who was a medium and theymay have some some DVDs of horror movieslike The Exorcist um or Omen very famousoccultic movies within their theirunderneath their TVs and so uh as I gothrough this kind of process with peoplejust as the people of Ephesus burnttheir occultic paraphernalia so we walkthrough somebody's house with themthey're with us and there are otherWitnesses present and we're walkingthrough and says what is this and wheredoes this come from we need to cleanhouse we need to make sure there's noAvenue for Satan to enter that person'slife ever again and if there issomething to which there is an attachedspirit in that in your home the spiritwill have believe it has the right to bein that home and to harass you at thevery least and I've have many cases inmy own experience of having to walk withpeople through their homes and putting apile of things together then they getrid of it I just recently I had a callfrom a young lady who was beingassaulted at night sexually by a spiritthis lady was doing a graduate degreeand uh a committed Adventist lady and soI went through kind of a verbalquestionnaire with her like where's thiscoming from and it turned out that as ateenager she hadd been playing with an aOuija board and the demon had had beenyou the Ouija board had been spinninground and answering the questions yesand no and so forth and uh and she neverthought anything more about it but shestill carried what the Ouija board saidto her in her mind like those lies ofSatan were still operative in her lifeand so I said to her well you know whereis that aija born should know it's athome it's in the basement it's in a boxso I said you need to go home anddestroy it and so at her next umvacation she drove and what should havebeen a one-day Journey was a three-dayJourney cuz everything that could gowrong with that car did go wrong withthat car like Satan didn't want her toget to that house when she got got tothe house she took out the Ouija boardshe gathered the pastor and the eldersand they burnt it in the backyard thishappened just a few weeks ago in 2020and she destroyed that Ouija board andthe net result was that she was freefrom the attacks of that Spirit thespirit had believed that he hadauthority over her because she hadaccepted the lies of the aija board andin accepting the lies she had acceptedthe authority of the one who had giventhose lives those lies to her so postDeliverance Ministry is very importantcleaning out the house having a housecleansing um if you go to the AFM webpage AFM online look in the videos thereare videos there of when ourmissionaries We Gather all the spiritparaphernalia from the houses ofanimists and we burn them everythinggets burnt there's we'll have nothingmore to do with the spirits in thishouse and these these um paraphernaliaof Spirit Worship they're worth a lot indifferent societies but we're going toburn them because there is no place forthem in this person's life ever more andso we also want to set people on a paththat growing in Christ and so there areseven Hallmarks of growing in Christ thefirst is a life born of the spirit inJohn 3 and verse5 the second is a lifeof loving service and of unity withinthe body of Christ John13:34 we also find that the ChristianLife involves a life of study 2 Timothy3:16 And1 17 it is a life of prayerEphesians chapter 6 and verse 18 it is alife of fruit bearing John chapter 15and verse4 it is a life of spiritualwarfare Ephesians 5:12 And1 13 and is alife of worship witness and hope Actschapter 2:42-47 these are the seven Hallmarks ofgrowing in Christ and it's our privilegeit's our joy it's our responsibility asMinisters of the Gospel when somebody isset free from the attacks of Satan tohelp Mentor that person to a life filledwith the spirit and growing in Christand growing in TR Grace and growing intruth truth and then finally we talkabout uh follow-up holistic healingprocesses uh some people have multipleor fragile personalities often arisingfrom severe sex sexual abuse inchildhood or Satanic ritual ritual abuseand for such people inner healing andphysical healing and spiritual healingand social healing can take much longerto achieve and so pastoral care afterDeliverance is just as importantimportant as the Pastoral Care prior tothe Deliverance session itself so theseare 12 ingredients of DeliveranceMinistry uh that we in AFM we we bringthese ingredients to every case thatcomes our way um the at the bottombottom of the line bottom of the thebottom line though is that Victory comesin the name of Jesus Christ not becauseI pray in a certain way not because Iread a certain text not because I singthis song not because we're doing thison the Sabbath but Victory comes in thename and the power of the Lord JesusJesus Christ what I've been sharing withyou today are some of the ingredientsthat we find in the scriptures and assomebody comes to you asking for helpyou prayerfully applying theseingredients to the case until you findvictory in the name of the Lord JesusChrist so what do we want to say inconclusion today well firstly downloadthe manual and read more about itsecondly and I've said this repeatedlyChrist has never lost a battle withSatan when there was war in heaven Satanwas cast out in the showdown in theWilderness at the start of his ministrySatan was driven away Jesus bound thestrong man and then he set free hiscaptives in his Earthly Ministry and onResurrection Day all the forces of Satanand Hell could not keep Jesus withinthat tomb and when Jesus comes againSatan and his demons will be destroyedforever more wonderful news Hallelujahnot only will sin be destroyed but theauthor of sin will be destroyed once andfor all and to that we say amen and amenso I want to challenge you today Iinvite you to turn in faith to towardsthe Lord Jesus Christ who alone can setyou free from Satan's harassment fromhis oppression and from his possession Iwant to challenge you today to ask Godfor the fruit of the spirit in yourcharacter ask God for the gift of thefruit so that you may minister to othersand ask God for the abundance of lifethat only he can give remember there isno cause is a lost cause for David forJesus who is the son of David and he'scoming after you he wants to set youfree and he wants you you'd have
