Exodus 3:1

Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led his flock beyond the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

Isaiah 43:1-4

But now, thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Saba in exchange for you. Exodus 3:11-12

But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” He said, “I will be with you; and this shall be the sign for you that it is I who sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God on this mountain.”

Matthew 4:18-22

Exodus 3:14-15

Sometimes God allows you to go through the wilderness because there’s something he needs to burn out of your character.

What matters is not what you think about yourself, but whether God is calling you in this moment or not.

If we have no sense of the holiness and the majesty and the otherness of God, our call to ministry is handicapped.

Faithfulness in small things today prepares us for a greater call tomorrow.
