Daniel 3:16-18
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, let it be known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods nor worship the golden statue which thou hast set up.”
Daniel 4:34
At the end of the days, I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up my eyes unto heaven, and my understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most high, and I praised and honored him that liveth forever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation.
Jeremiah 51:33-34
For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing floor, it is time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come. Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon hath devoured me, he hath crushed me, he hath made me an empty vessel, he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his belly with my delicates, he hath cast me out.
Revelation 12
The dragon persecuted the woman and her offspring; the dragon is identified as Satan.
Isaiah 14
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
Philippians 2:10-11
At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Revelation 13:11-18
Behold, I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast… And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
Revelation 7
I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God; and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, saying, “Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.”
Ezekiel 20:12
Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them.
Isaiah 56:6-7
Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the Lord, to serve him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer… for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.
Revelation 14:7
Saying with a loud voice, “Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”
John 15
Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
Revelation 17:8
The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world.
Revelation 14:3
And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.
Revelation 12
And the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 19:1-8
After these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, “Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God.”
Revelation 21-22
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people.”
History does not remember those who bowed. History remembers those who stood up. If we want our names to last throughout eternity, we must also stand when we face coercion of conscience and a union of church and state persecuting us.
God gives us all a period of probation. He warns us. He pleads with us. Maybe you read a passage in the scriptures. Maybe you hear a sermon. And God is inviting you to turn to Him and to turn away from sin. If we resist the devil, he will flee from us. And if we draw near to God, He will draw near to us as well.
When Nebuchadnezzar lifted his eyes to heaven, his understanding returned to him. A life that is not spent looking upon God is a life without reason and a life without purpose.
Prophecy is given as a light so that we do not stumble in the darkness at the end of time. It is a flashlight. As the darkness gathers in our world, God has given us the prophetic voice of scripture to know what is coming and therefore we need not have our hearts filled with fear.
The great controversy between good and evil has been carried on for almost 6,000 years and is soon to close. Yet how few have their attention called to this matter? We are living amidst the closing scenes of Earth’s history.
Jesus is coming soon. And we get ready for that by showing our faith in Him in multiple ways, but one of the ways is by dealing with sin in our lives today. Christ is coming for those who gain victory over sin and keep the commandments of God.
The Sabbath is not just a day for not working; it is a time for communion with God, for Him to change us from the inside out. It is the time where God changes us more than any other time in the week.
The key issue in the final crisis is worship. It is not just who you pray to or sing praises to; it is who is the highest authority in your life. Is it going to be the Creator of the universe, or is it going to be earthly governments compelling false worship?
God always presumes liberty of conscience. The proclamation of the final message of mercy assumes that every person can choose to fear God and give glory to Him. We must always stand for liberty of conscience, for people to make a choice freely for the Creator of the universe.
The character of God’s commandment-keeping people at the end of time is that they obey the commandments of God and worship the Creator. The lost obey the mandates of Satan and worship the beast and its image.
As Christians, we are never satisfied with who we are today. We pray every day, “Lord, change me today.” We choose daily whether to become better or bitter. Persecution and going through a crucible is not a sign that God has abandoned you but that He is refining you for a greater purpose.
God is not willing that any should perish, and neither should we be willing that any should perish. If there is someone whom you would be willing to see perish, God needs to work some surgery on your heart.
The remnant movement at the end of days keeps the commandments of God and has the faith of Jesus. This is not just a name or convenience; it is a conviction and an honest conversion.
Ellen G. White, Desire of Ages, p. 48
It would have been an almost infinite humiliation for the Son of God to take man’s nature even when Adam stood in his innocence in Eden. But Jesus accepted humanity when the race had been weakened by 4,000 years of sin.
Ellen G. White, Great Controversy, p. 656
For 6,000 years the great controversy has been in progress. The Son of God and his heavenly messengers have been in conflict with the power of the evil one to warn, enlighten, and save the children of God. Now all have made their decisions. The wicked have finally united with Satan in his warfare against God. The time has come for God to vindicate the authority of his downtrodden law.
Ellen G. White, Signs of the Times, July 28, 1874
The great controversy between good and evil will increase between Christ and Satan that has been carried on for almost 6,000 years, and yet how few have their attention called to this matter? How few realize that we are living amidst the closing scenes of Earth’s history?
Ellen G. White, Great Controversy, Introduction
The great controversy between good and evil will increase in intensity to the very close of time.
Ellen G. White
The church is approaching her final deliverance. Satan is to work with greater power. He comes down having great wrath, known because he hath but a short time.
Ellen G. White
In this time of peril, the followers of Christ are to bear to the world the warning of the Lord’s second advent. The people are to be prepared to stand before Him at His coming without spot and blameless. At this time, the special endowment of divine grace and power is not less needful to the church than in apostolic days.
