Unmasking the Deception: The First Angel’s Message in a World Gone Mad

By Dr. Conrad Vine

In a world where news feeds are flooded with the unthinkable—from the latest revelations of the Epstein files to the normalization of evil—it’s easy to feel like we are plumbing new depths of depravity. We are witnessing a global elite who seem to operate outside of any moral or legal boundary, yielding themselves to powers far darker than politics or greed.

As we open Revelation chapters 13 and 14, we are not just reading ancient prophecy; we are reading tomorrow’s headlines. We are embarking on a journey through the Three Angels’ Messages, and we begin by understanding the battlefield: Satan’s end-time attack and God’s end-time offer.

Let’s pray.

Our dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for the freedom to worship. We ask that Your Holy Spirit would descend upon us, still the voices of this world, and replace our worries with Your peace. Speak through us and for us, that the words shared would yield a harvest of righteousness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The Invisible War: Revelation’s Blueprint

Have you noticed the chaos? TheEpstein files have pulled back the curtain, revealing that Satan is not just a metaphor; he is “a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8). Revelation 12:12 warns us that he has come down with great wrath because he knows his time is short.

To understand the final crisis, we must look at the structure of Revelation:

  • Revelation 12 gives us the overview: War in heaven, war on earth. It is the great controversy between good and evil.

  • Revelation 13 shows us how Satan attacks. He doesn’t do it alone; he employs a counterfeit godhead to mimic and mock the true Trinity.

  • Revelation 14 reveals how God responds. He sends messages of mercy to a dying world.

The Counterfeit Godhead: The Satanic Trinity

In the final days, deception will be so sophisticated that if it were possible, it would deceive the very elect (Matthew 24:24). Satan achieves this by creating a mirror image of God’s authority.

1. The Dragon: The Counterfeit Father

In Revelation 13:1, the Dragon (identified as Satan in Revelation 12:9) stands ready to give his power and throne to another beast. He is the source of authority for the evil trinity, just as God the Father is the source of all authority in Heaven.

2. The Sea Beast: The Counterfeit Son (The Papacy)

In Revelation 13:1-5, John sees a beast rising from the sea with seven heads and ten horns—it looks just like the Dragon.

  • It receives authority from the Dragon (v. 2): Just as Jesus received authority from the Father (Matthew 28:18).

  • It receives a deadly wound and is healed (v. 3): The Greek word used for this “slaughter” is the same used for the Lamb in Revelation 5. This beast mimics the death and resurrection of Christ.

  • It exercises authority for 42 months (v. 5): Just as Jesus’ earthly ministry lasted for 3.5 years, this beast rules for a prophetic 3.5 years (1260 days/years of papal supremacy, 538-1798 AD).

This beast, which we identify as the papacy, walks, talks, and looks like Christ, but it is a blasphemous perversion of everything He stands for.

3. The Land Beast: The Counterfeit Spirit (America in Role)

Then we come to verse 11: “Then I saw another beast that rose out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon.”

  • Two horns like a lamb: The word “lamb” appears 29 times in Revelation. 28 of those times refer to Jesus. Only here does it refer to something else. This beast looks like Jesus (the Lamb), but its voice betrays it.

  • It speaks like a dragon: It is a counterfeit for the Holy Spirit.

    • In John 14:16, Jesus promised “another Comforter” (the Holy Spirit) who would not speak of Himself but would glorify Jesus.

    • In Revelation 13:12, this land beast exercises authority on behalf of the sea beast and makes the world worship the first beast. It doesn’t point to itself; it points to the counterfeit son.

This land beast (representing America in a fallen role) will even perform great signs, making fire come down from heaven (v. 13). This is a direct counterfeit of the Holy Spirit’s power at Pentecost. In a world of AI deepfakes and shamanistic power, we are reminded: Faith does not come by miracles; faith comes by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). Don’t believe everything you see. Satan can call down fire, too.

God’s Response: The First Angel’s Message

When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord raises up a standard. In Revelation 14:6-7, God fires back with three messages of mercy. The first angel flies “in the midst of heaven” with the everlasting gospel.

“Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people—saying with a loud voice, ‘Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.'” (Revelation 14:6-7)

1. A Message for Everyone

Notice the target: Every nation, tribe, tongue, and people.
In Revelation 13:7, the sea beast was given authority over every tribe, tongue, and nation. Wherever Satan has put his fingerprints, God puts His footprints. This is God’s “No Child Left Behind” act. No matter how broken your family history is, no matter what curses your people may be under, this message of mercy is for you. God hasn’t forgotten you.

2. The Everlasting Gospel

This isn’t a new message. It is the same gospel preached in Eden (Genesis 3:15), the same gospel of the law and the prophets, and the same gospel of Jesus.

  • The Law and the Gospel: We are not saved by the law, but we are saved to obey the law. The gospel changes us from the inside out. As Ellen White wrote, “Christ was both the law and the gospel.” When we are justified by faith, God writes His law on our hearts. We begin to instinctively delight in His will, just as a long-married couple instinctively knows each other’s desires.

  • Assurance: Too many of us die with no assurance. We look at our lives and say, “I’m not good enough.” And we are right! But we are saved by the righteousness of Christ, not our own. The new covenant isn’t our promise to be good; it is God’s promise to make us good. We trust His faithfulness to us.

3. Fear God and Give Him Glory

This is a call to repentance. To “fear God” is to reverence Him as Creator and Redeemer. To “give Him glory” means to reveal His character in our own. It means forgiving the people we love to hate. It means washing the feet of those who betray us. When the Dalai Lama was asked for an image of Christianity, he didn’t choose the cross; he chose Jesus washing the feet of Judas.

Is there someone you need to forgive today? Forgive them, not just for them, but for you. Unresolved anger hardens the soul and leads to spiritual and physical sickness.

4. The Hour of His Judgment Has Come

We are living in the time of the pre-advent judgment (Daniel 8:14). This sounds terrifying, but for the believer, it is good news. The Greek word for judgment is crisis. We all come into the crisis. But the word for condemnation is krima. Romans 8:1 says, “There is therefore now no krima (condemnation) to those who are in Christ Jesus.”

If you are in Christ, your judgment is secure. Your case is won. But this judgment demands that we look at the “man in the mirror.” It is time for solemn heart-searching. If the Holy Spirit is whispering about a cherished sin, don’t harden your heart. Give it to God today.

5. Worship the Creator

The message concludes with a call to worship the One “who made heaven and earth, the sea, and springs of water.” This is direct language pointing to the Sabbath of the Fourth Commandment (Exodus 20:8-11).

In a world that is reviving Sunday laws (often under secular guises of health and family), the Sabbath stands as the eternal sign of God’s creative and redeeming power. It is the seal of our allegiance to the Creator rather than the beast.

The Faith of Jesus

The first angel’s message creates a people described in Revelation 14:12: “Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.”

What is the “faith of Jesus”?
It is not just our faith in Him, but the faith He demonstrated. It is trusting in the ability of Christ to save us amply, fully, and entirely. It is trusting Him when we are awake and when we are asleep, in good times and in bad.

It is turning our eyes upon Jesus.

In the face of a counterfeit trinity, a deceiving world, and an impending crisis, we are called to be a people who:

  • Reject the beasts of this world and their coercion.

  • Fear God with genuine repentance.

  • Receive the righteousness of Christ by faith.

  • Keep the commandments of God out of love.

  • Hold fast to the faith of Jesus.

The hour of His judgment has come. But the Judge is our Savior. Let us turn our eyes upon Him, ask Him to live within us, and prepare to meet our God.

Prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, we thank You for this message of mercy. We thank You that no one is left behind. Father, we ask that Jesus would enter our hearts and change us from the inside out. May the world see nothing of us and everything of You. He must increase; we must decrease. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.
