Memorable Quotes

The names of God are windows into his character.

God allows us to go through tests, we call them trials, in order that we may grow in faith, that our characters might be refined and purified, and to demonstrate before the watching universe the depth of our love for God.

Abraham was expedient rather than obedient, and each time he tried to work God’s purposes out in his own way, he caused human pain and suffering.

God is patient with Abraham through decades of spiritual expediency and cutting of corners, and He is patient with you and me despite our failures.

God gave Abraham his only son Isaac, whom he loved—the first time the word love appears in the Bible—showing the depth of this relationship and the gravity of the test.

God’s command to Abraham to sacrifice Isaac was to cut off his past and his anticipated future; it was a terrible burden because through Isaac God had promised an everlasting covenant for salvation.

Abraham’s love for God was tested over his love for Isaac; he was asked to treasure obedience to God above even the real gift of his son.

Abraham rose early and obeyed without negotiation or pleading—he had learned to trust God no matter what.

We grow spiritually the most in the hard times of life, not in times of ease and plenty.

Abraham invites Isaac to trust the God who will provide; Isaac submits silently, modeling trusting obedience.

Fathers have spiritual responsibilities to lead their families in worship and raise their children in the fear of the Lord.

Abraham and Isaac walked together in peaceful agreement to the place of sacrifice, symbolizing their submission to God’s will.

The sacrifice of Jesus was different from all others because He willingly submitted to His Father’s will, unlike the lambs that had to be held down.

Isaac experienced the joy and relief of substitutionary atonement, being spared at the last moment by God’s provision of the ram.

Isaac is a type of Jesus Christ, the beloved son who submits silently to the will of the Father.

Jehovah Jireh means “The God who provides,” the self-existent One who is outside of time and sees the future, making perfect provision for our needs.

God knows your past, understands your present troubles, sees your future, and is making it right now, providing fully for your eternal life and home in heaven.

The true descendants of Abraham are not those of biological lineage only, but those who have faith in Jesus Christ, who accept His sacrifice and live by faith.

In the body of Christ, there are no social, ethnic, or gender distinctions; we are all one in Jesus Christ.

Those who belong to Christ are heirs of the riches of heaven and the promise of eternal life.

For two score years I have served my Lord and He has done me no wrong; so why should I deny Him now?

Preparing for baptism is a serious matter; it is entering into a covenant relationship with God that permeates and blesses all your relationships.

God is the God who fights battles for His children, who sees us in our distress, who is our banner, and who provides salvation for our eternal future.
