Session 1: The Reality of Victory Over Sin [Revelation 3:21; Ezekiel 36:26-27]

Victory over sin is not about wearing a long face or living a miserable life but about embracing the joy and assurance that comes from following Jesus. The Christian journey is dynamic and forward-moving toward Christlikeness, where each day we reflect more of His character.
Jesus overcame sin not by His own strength but through dependence on the power of His heavenly Father. Similarly, we cannot overcome sin by our own efforts but through the strength Christ provides. As Paul says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).
The promise of a new heart and spirit from God (Ezekiel 36:26-27) assures us that victory over sin is possible because God removes the “heart of stone” and puts within us a heart of flesh, enabling us to follow His statutes with His Spirit’s help.

The close of probation is a crucial event before the second coming of Jesus when the pre-advent judgment in heaven is complete and eternal destinies are fixed. This moment is not at Christ’s return but shortly before, emphasizing the urgency of gaining victory over sin now.
The 144,000 represent those who have endured the final crisis, faithful to God’s commandments, and sealed with His name on their foreheads, symbolizing their character reflecting God’s holiness and righteousness.
This group is described not as a literal number of Jewish males but as a symbol of God’s faithful people from every nation, tribe, language, and people. Their unity is in character, not ethnicity or gender.
The seal of God is identified with the Holy Spirit, who transforms believers’ characters so they reflect God’s name and righteousness. This transformation is evidenced externally by obedience to God’s law, including the Sabbath commandment, which is the sign of God’s people.
The 144,000 have experienced severe persecution and trials but remained unashamed to bear Christ’s name. Their faithfulness amidst opposition and their refusal to join false worship mark their victorious characters prepared for eternity.

Victory over sin requires a daily living bond with Jesus—abiding in Him. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit without remaining attached to the vine, we cannot overcome sin without remaining connected to Christ’s strength and life.

Confession of sin is critical because sin separates us from God and hinders our prayers. Daily confession keeps our hearts sensitive to the Holy Spirit and opens the way for God’s transforming work.

The Christian life is a progressive journey, where by God’s grace, we move from the person we were to the person God wants us to be, continually growing in Christlikeness.
Being holy includes honoring the body as the temple of the Holy Spirit and engaging in acts of benevolence and kindness. The spirit of generosity reflects God’s character and contrasts with the selfishness of the world.
