Day 1: Recognizing the Reality of Spiritual Battle

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” — Ephesians 6:12 (ESV)

Opening Reflection:
Have you ever felt like life’s struggles were more than just bad luck or coincidence? Maybe you’ve experienced a series of challenges—loss, illness, broken relationships—that seem to come one after another, like an unseen force is at work. Imagine driving a winding road through the beautiful hills, but your focus is so intense on the road ahead that you miss the stunning vistas on either side. Sometimes, in life, we tunnel forward, unaware of the spiritual battles raging around us. The world is full of distractions and challenges that can blur our vision of what’s truly happening behind the scenes.

Like the Apostle Paul reminds us, our real fight isn’t against people, but against powerful spiritual forces. These forces seek to discourage us, distract us, and pull us away from our faith. But the good news is that this battle is not hidden or mysterious. It is real, and God has given us tools to stand firm.

Today’s Truth:
Dr. Vine explains that those who follow Christ have a target on their backs. Satan, the enemy, directs his forces to attack believers to discourage and dissuade them from faith. We see this in the Bible through stories like that of Job, who faced tremendous loss and suffering but was protected by God from ultimate harm. Similarly, the Apostle Paul was tormented by a “thorn in the flesh,” a messenger of Satan allowed by God to keep him humble and dependent on divine strength rather than his own.

Even Jesus’ disciples were not immune. Peter, for instance, tried to stop Jesus from facing the cross and was sharply rebuked as Satan’s instrument in that moment. Judas, trusted as treasurer, was ultimately possessed by Satan and betrayed Jesus. These examples remind us that spiritual warfare is intense and personal.

Every day, we face attacks—whether harassment, oppression, or even possession—and God sets limits on what the enemy can do in our lives. Knowing this, we can confidently ask God to protect us and fight these battles on our behalf.

Give me eyes to see the spiritual reality around me and faith to stand firm in Your protection. Teach me to depend on Your strength and not my own. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day 2: Closing the Doorways to Satan

Key Scripture:

“Many who became believers confessed and disclosed their practices. A number of those who practiced magic collected their books and burned them publicly.” — Acts 19:18-19 (NIV)

Opening Reflection:
Suppose you discover rats living behind your house. You can chase them away at night, but as long as the garbage pile remains, they will return. The only lasting solution is to remove the source that attracts them. In our spiritual lives, “garbage” can take many forms—unhealthy habits, old occult practices, or harmful media—that open doorways for evil influences.

Dr. Vine shares the story of believers in Ephesus who burned their costly magic books instead of donating them to a library. This radical action symbolized cutting off access points for Satan in their lives. What might it look like for you to identify and remove the “garbage” that invites spiritual attack?

Today’s Truth:
To overcome evil, we must cooperate with God by closing open doorways to Satan. Just as the Ephesian believers destroyed their magic scrolls, we are called to remove anything from our lives that cannot be offered to God as holy. This includes occult objects, harmful entertainment, and sinful habits.

Dr. Vine highlights the dangers of pornography, violent media, and involvement in occult practices that seem harmless but invite demonic influence. Even ancestral spirits, passed through family lines due to past occult involvement, can cause harm in ways we might not understand.

Removing these doorways requires honesty and courage. It might mean destroying items like Ouija boards or wooden masks from pagan rituals. It means turning away from media or habits that shape our minds in ways contrary to God’s truth. The goal is to fill our homes and hearts with the Holy Spirit, not the enemy.

Remember the story of the young woman who experienced nightly demonic attacks until she burned her Ouija board. When she closed that doorway, peace returned. What doorways might you need to close today?

• Are there any objects, habits, or influences in your life that could be inviting spiritual harm?
• What fears or doubts hold you back from removing these doorways?
• How can you rely on God’s strength to make these changes?

Prayer:
Lord God, I want to live in Your light and peace. Please reveal to me anything in my life that opens doors to evil and give me the strength to remove it. Help me to honor You with my thoughts, my home, and my actions. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and protect me from all harm. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day 3: Putting on the Armor of God

Key Scripture:

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” — Ephesians 6:11 (ESV)

Opening Reflection:
Imagine a soldier preparing for battle. Every piece of armor must be carefully put on—each one essential for protection. Without the full armor, even the bravest soldier is vulnerable. In our spiritual battles, God has given us armor to stand firm. But sometimes we forget to put it on, or we wear only parts of it.

Dr. Vine shares from his travels how spiritual realities are visible to some—like shamans who sense unseen beings. The Apostle Paul warns us that our fight is not against people but against spiritual forces. So, how prepared are we for this fight?

Today’s Truth:
The armor of God consists of six pieces: the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit (the Word of God). Each piece protects a vital part of our spiritual life.

The belt of truth holds everything together and represents honesty in our relationships with God and others. The breastplate protects our hearts and lungs—the center of our emotions, prayer, and connection with God. Shoes of peace equip us to share the gospel and walk faithfully. The shield of faith defends us from Satan’s fiery attacks—lies, fears, and discouragement. The helmet of salvation guards our minds, keeping our thoughts focused on God’s healing and salvation. Finally, the sword of the Spirit is our only offensive weapon—God’s Word, which we must know and wield to counter Satan’s lies.

Dr. Vine encourages us to stand firm, not to go looking for demons, but to be ready when attacks come. Wearing this full armor daily strengthens us to resist evil and remain faithful.

Day 4: Praying for Deliverance and Victory

“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” — Matthew 6:13 (ESV)

Opening Reflection:
Prayer is our lifeline to God, especially in times of spiritual attack. The Lord’s Prayer includes a plea for daily deliverance from the evil one, reminding us that every day brings new battles. Consider your own prayer life. Do you regularly ask God to protect you from the enemy’s schemes? Or do you find yourself struggling alone without calling on God’s power?

Dr. Vine emphasizes how Jesus taught us to pray daily for deliverance because Satan’s attacks are relentless. Prayer is not just a ritual but a powerful weapon in spiritual warfare.

Today’s Truth:
Deliverance from the evil one comes through persistent prayer and dependence on God. Dr. Vine reminds us that Satan’s attacks often come through lies that seek to undermine our faith—lies that we are worthless, unforgivable, or beyond help. But God’s Word is the truth that counters these lies.

Moreover, fasting combined with prayer intensifies our spiritual clarity and humility before God. It frees time for focused prayer, sharpens discernment, and expresses our dependence on God’s power rather than our own.

Dr. Vine encourages believers to pray and fast when facing spiritual attacks—individually and as a community. By doing so, we open ourselves to God’s deliverance and healing.

Day 5: Living in the Victory of Jesus Christ

“If God is for us, who can be against us?” — Romans 8:31 (ESV)

Opening Reflection:
Think about the struggles, losses, and battles you have faced. Now imagine walking through life with the assurance that Jesus Christ has already won the ultimate victory over evil. This is the hope Dr. Vine passionately shares—the certainty that Jesus has never lost a battle with Satan and that He fights on our behalf.

The challenges in life can sometimes feel overwhelming, but we are never alone. The presence of Jesus in our lives means we can stand firm and walk in victory, even when the spiritual battle is fierce.

Today’s Truth:
Dr. Vine concludes by reminding us that evil is real and has a supernatural origin, but so does our Savior. Jesus came not only to teach but to set us free from Satan’s attacks.
