The Bible shows us that Satan does not leave followers of Christ alone; rather, once you bear the name of Christ, you become a target for spiritual attacks. Day 2: Closing the Doorways to Satan

Key Scripture: “Also, many of those who became believers confessed and disclosed their practices. A number of those who practiced magic collected their books and burnt them publicly.” — Acts 19:18-19

Opening Reflection: Imagine you have a rat problem behind your house. You could spend every night trying to catch the rats, but if you don’t remove the garbage attracting them, the rats will keep coming back. In the same way, spiritual attacks often come through open doorways in our lives—habits, objects, or practices that give the enemy access to our hearts and homes. Have you ever thought about what “garbage” might be attracting spiritual attacks in your life? It can be hard to face, but removing these things is crucial to overcoming evil.

Today’s Truth: Dr. Vine shares the powerful example from Acts 19, where new believers in Ephesus publicly burned their scrolls of magic and occult practices, which were extremely valuable. They chose to close the doorways that Satan used to influence their lives, rather than simply hanging onto those things or putting them away. This act of renunciation is more than symbolic—it is a decisive step in cooperating with God to gain victory over evil.

In today’s world, these doorways might include occult objects like Ouija boards, tarot cards, or even seemingly harmless items like masks or gemstones with spiritual ties. It might also be harmful habits like pornography or watching violent and dark media that shape our minds toward Satan’s influence. Dr. Vine warns that these things can deeply damage marriages, families, and individuals, and urges us to rid our homes and hearts of anything that cannot be offered as holy to God.

Removing these doorways is not always easy. It might be uncomfortable or costly, but it is necessary. One story he shares is of a young woman who battled nightly attacks until she burned the Ouija board from her youth. The attacks ceased immediately after that. This shows the power of obedience and the importance of cooperation with God’s deliverance.

Day 3: Putting on the Armor of God

Opening Reflection: Picture a soldier preparing for battle, carefully putting on each piece of armor to protect vital parts of the body. Each piece has a purpose and together they provide full protection. Now, imagine you face daily spiritual attacks—how prepared do you feel? Do you have the armor you need to stand firm? Sometimes we get caught up in everyday worries or politics and forget the real battle is spiritual. Dr. Vine’s sermon reminds us that our fight is not against people but against spiritual forces, and God has given us armor for protection.

Today’s Truth: The Apostle Paul instructs believers to put on the full armor of God to stand against Satan’s attacks. The shoes of peace prepare us to walk faithfully and share the good news, while God’s peace guards us in the storms of life. The shield of faith quenches fiery arrows of doubt, fear, and lies by trusting God’s promises rather than worldly appearances. The helmet of salvation protects our minds, the battleground for thoughts and decisions, reminding us that our eternal destiny depends on guarding our minds with God’s truth. Finally, the sword of the Spirit—the Word of God—is our only offensive weapon, used to combat Satan’s lies with Scripture spoken aloud and memorized.

Dr. Vine emphasizes that none of us are called to be warriors searching for demons but to stand firm when attacks come. We are empowered by Jesus, who has defeated Satan, and equipped by God’s armor to resist and overcome. The armor is not just for protection—it is for victory.
